"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not to thine own understanding and in all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths" Proverbs 3:5-6
Being born from a vision the DeKalb County Grief Support Group was founded in January, 2010. Going through the tragedy of losing a child in my own life, God had placed a burden on my heart to open a facility where people could come to a safe place with others, that had shared a similar loss. Life's most prized possessions had been snatched from us, such as laughter, winks, little kisses on the cheek or the sweet tender words from the voices we loved to hear say..."I Love You." With that, death is the single most devastating event that can affect a person which can create a world of emotions and questions that can't be answered alone. Life as we once knew it, can never be the same again. However, with God we learn how to live again. No one is ever ready to deal with the loss of those that make their life full and complete. We have together become a part of, or members to a club we did not volunteer to be a part of.
"Reaching Out To You" is our way of saying "We care." If you or someone you love is dealing with any type of grief, depression, thoughts of suicide, or emotions that can't be faced alone, we invite you to be a part of our support group. If you live too far away we can help you to find a support group in your area. The DeKalb County Grief Support group meets every First and Third Tuesday of the month at 6:PM CST. We are currently meeting at 315 2nd Street N.W. in Fort Payne, AL.
